Statement from Dr. Fermin Leguen, Acting Chief Health Officer at Southern Nevada Health District
Cory Burgess2020-03-13T14:34:35-07:00The Southern Nevada Health District today announced three new presumptive positive COVID-19 cases. We’d like to reiterate and emphasize several points of information we feel are critical for the public: The risk of contracting COVID-19 in Southern Nevada remains low for the general public. There are four reported presumptive positive cases in our community, in addition to one confirmed by the CDC, in a population of roughly 2.2 million residents. There is presently no greater risk of contracting COVID-19 in Las Vegas or at The Mirage than there is at any other travel destination in the United States. Close contact is defined as being within six feet of someone who is symptomatic for a prolonged period of time. We are in the process of notifying anyone deemed to have been in close contact with any presumptive positive patients.
