Body Art Card Requirements

Obtaining a Body Art Card

The Southern Nevada Health District uses a mentor/apprentice program to ensure that body artists in Clark County have the basic knowledge of what causes bloodborne diseases and what steps can be taken to prevent the spread of bloodborne diseases. Five types of cards are issued: Body Art Card, Body Art Apprentice Card, Microblading Card, Microblading Apprentice Card and Body Art Mentor Card.

PERMANENT CARD

A Body Art Card or Microblading Card can be issued to artists with at least six months of experience in body art practices. The applicant must pass the Health District’s sanitation exam and provide proof of current bloodborne pathogen training. Click here to learn more.

APPRENTICE CARD

A Body Art Apprentice Card or Microblading Apprentice Card can be issued to prospective artists without six months of experience. The applicant must register with a mentor then pass the Health District’s sanitation exam and provide proof of current bloodborne pathogen training. Click here to learn more.

MENTOR CARD

All body art and microblading apprentices will need to work under a mentor body artist who possesses a Body Art Mentor Card issued by the Health District. Artists with at least four consecutive years of experience may apply for the Body Art Mentor Card. Click here to learn more.

Test and Card Fees

Cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, money order, cashier’s checks and business checks are accepted at all locations. See our Valid Identification Policy for identification that is accepted for payment. The name on the ID must match the name on the payment method presented.
