Public health department accreditation is defined as the development of a set of standards, a process to measure health department performance against those standards, and reward or recognition for those health departments who meet the standards.
In order to continue to provide services that meet and exceed nationally recommended levels, we are starting the process of applying for accreditation. There are seven steps to public health accreditation.

Achieving accreditation provides a framework for a health department to identify performance improvement opportunities, develop leadership, improve management, increase funding opportunities, and strengthen relationships with elected officials, governing bodies and the community.
