As of Friday, August 21, 2009, the Southern Nevada Health District reports the following information regarding novel H1N1 case counts in Clark County:

Clark County H1N1-related deaths to date: 8*
The health district received confirmation during the week ending August 21 that a May 2009 death was H1N1 related. The patient was a 53-year-old man. There is no additional information available regarding any underlying medical conditions. One patient remains hospitalized with severe illness. The Southern Nevada Health District continues to receive samples from its pediatric surveillance program.

*This number represents Clark County residents only. In early June, the health district reported the death of a hospitalized patient who was a resident of another state.
