Chief Health Officer Announces Pending Resignation

LAS VEGAS – Dr. Lawrence Sands, chief health officer of the Southern Nevada Health District has announced his pending resignation. A special meeting of the Southern Nevada District Board of Health has been scheduled for Thursday, June 21 at 3:30 p.m. at Council Chambers, Las Vegas City Hall, for board members to formally accept his resignation.
“I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to serve the district as the chief health officer and look forward to continuing to make a difference in the community in a future role,” said Dr. Sands.
Dr. Sands was appointed chief health officer of the Southern Nevada Health District in March 2007. He previously served the health district as its founding director of the Division of Community Health, and as assistant health officer.
