Norovirus is a common virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea and is frequently the cause of generalized “food poisoning.” Norovirus is very contagious. In fact, when a person with norovirus vomits, 300,000 viral particles are released, and it only takes 10-18 viral particles to make someone else sick.
