The Southern Nevada Health District’s Daily Aggregate Reports have been revised to include rates. Today’s report also includes a revised estimate of recovered patients. The revised number is based on more accurate estimates of current hospitalizations after discovering the reporting system was inflating completed discharge dates in some instances.

LAS VEGAS – As Clark County’s COVID-19 case count began to climb, the Southern Nevada Health District expanded its staff of four disease investigators to more than 60 in six weeks. Today, as staff continues to work on case and contact notifications for the more than 5,400 reported cases in Clark County, the agency has implemented an automated system to expedite its efforts to notify people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Southern Nevada Health District recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public, even more importantly in environments where social distancing is not always possible. As businesses are reopening, the Health District has issued guidance and recommendations that employees should wear non-hospital grade, cloth face coverings to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Everyone working is encouraged to wear a cloth face covering to protect customers when maintaining 6 feet of separation isn’t possible.

With a rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Clark County occurring in the Hispanic community, County leaders, health experts and partners announced a sweeping new outreach effort to boost understanding among Hispanic residents of all ages about the need to wear face coverings in public places, visit free testing sites, and find resources to help protect themselves and their families from the virus.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting two additional cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) in Clark County. Both patients tested positive for COVID-19 and required hospitalization but have been discharged and are recovering. The Health District reported the first confirmed case of MIS-C associated with COVID-19 in a child on June 12.

LAS VEGAS – As the community prepares for the holiday weekend, the Southern Nevada Health District reminds the public and business community to continue to take steps to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The Southern Nevada Health District posts daily reports on its website at www.SNHD.info/covid to provide more context to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the community. Daily case counts only reflect the number of newly confirmed cases received from a variety of laboratory sources and do not reflect testing dates or symptom onset for cases.

Based on increasing demand for COVID-19 testing services at collection sites at its main location at 280 S. Decatur Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89107, and All Saints Episcopal Church, 4201 W. Washington Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89107, the Southern Nevada Health District has implemented an online registration-based system for people requesting testing services. Back-to-School Immunizations The Southern Nevada Health District is urging parents and guardians to ensure their pre-schoolers, kindergartners, and 7th graders are appropriately immunized and ready to start school. Due to the COVID-19 response, the Health District is limiting the number of patients allowed in its clinics and immunization services are available by appointment only. Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 51,457 cases of COVID-19 in Clark County, an increase of 888 since yesterday. It is important to note that the case counts posted each day are a reflection of the volume of tests conducted and electronic laboratory results received by the Health District from reporting facilities. The 7-day moving average of people with positive COVID-19 viral test results continues to decline and is at 13 percent.

Today, as the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting more than 1006 people in our community have lost their lives due to COVID-19, we want to express our deepest sympathies to their families and friends.

The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting a total of eight cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) in Clark County. All eight cases are reported in children under the age of 14, all of whom tested positive for COVID-19. All eight were hospitalized and have been discharged.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District reported 63,301 cases of COVID-19 in Clark County, an increase of 224 cases since yesterday. The Health District is adding a series of new weekly city reports that will be posted each Thursday to its website. The reports will provide more specific data for the jurisdictions of Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas, Mesquite, and North Las Vegas. Reports for smaller jurisdictions are not provided based on lower cases counts or population size.

Clark County and the Southern Nevada Health District have been working closely with their partners at the State of Nevada and the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services to respond to COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. Together, we have secured additional disease investigation and contact tracing resources that have allowed for the collection of expanded data. As more and better data is collected, we are committed to working with our partners to share this information with our partners and the public.

Additional community-based COVID-19 testing sites are scheduled to open in the city of Las Vegas beginning Thursday Sept. 24. The hours for these new locations will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the first site at Clark High School, 4291 Pennwood Ave., open Sept. 24-25. The testing will be at the school’s auxiliary gymnasium off Sirius Avenue. In addition, a site at Western High School, 4601 W. Bonanza Road, is scheduled to be open Oct. 8-9, and a site at Cimarron-Memorial High School, 2301 N. Tenaya Way, is scheduled for Oct. 15-16

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District and the City of Henderson are teaming up to host an appointment-based, no-cost, drive-up flu vaccine clinic at the Fiesta Henderson Hotel and Casino parking garage. Registration is available at www.bit.ly/oct6flu. Drive-up and walk-up clients without appointments will be accommodated if vaccine supplies allow. The drive-up clinic will offer 400 doses of vaccine for adults.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 68,162 cases of COVID-19 in Clark County, an increase of 663 since yesterday. Today’s increased case total is a result of delayed reporting from laboratories. The Health District provides comprehensive COVID-19 data on its website, including a Trends Report with a graph and table that distributes cases by symptom onset.

The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 807 new cases of COVID-19 today as the positivity rate continues to slowly increase in Clark County. The increase in new case reports is not unexpected as more people are getting tested, and more lab reports are received by the Health District. However, the increase in the positivity rate serves as a stark reminder to the public of the importance of following public health recommendations to protect themselves and others to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 609 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total of cases in Clark County to 77,426. The Health District is also reporting six new COVID-19 deaths; however, the total number of deaths reported today remains at 1,488. Based on the new COVID-19 surveillance death definition finalized by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and current as of October 19, 2020, the Health District reviewed its previously reported data and the total number of deaths reported in Clark County was decreased by six.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 890 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total number of cases in Clark County to 81,684 . The Health District is also reporting seven new COVID-19 deaths. The increase in new case reports is not unexpected as we are seeing continued community transmission and people continue to get tested However, the increase in the positivity rate serves as a stark reminder to the public of the importance of following public health recommendations to protect themselves and others to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 1,032 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Clark County to 86,673. The Health District is also reporting a total of 1,564 COVID-19 deaths, an increase of 17. The number of deaths reported today includes 17 deaths that were previously reported to the state but had not yet been submitted to the Health District, and therefore not included in our local COVID-19 reports. These deaths occurred between May 30, 2020, and September 19, 2020. Today’s total also reflects a decrease of five previously reported deaths that were found not to be residents of Clark County. These adjustments are being made in keeping with the recently reviewed COVID-19 surveillance death definition finalized by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services on October 19, 2020, and in partnership with the state to review and reconcile reports

LAS VEGAS – The Health District has developed a set of parameters for making its recommendations for the approval of large events in Clark County that is available on its website. Today, public health indicators are trending toward surveillance capacity because the 7-day average number of new cases is 569. The Health District recommends that events with less than 1,000 attendees can move forward for possible approval by the appropriate state agency with the caveat that these events could be postponed or canceled if conditions deteriorate. Under this condition, the Health District does not recommend approval for events of more than 1,000 attendees until three consecutive days of all parameters are found to be in green, not trending toward surveillance capacity or yellow, trending toward surveillance capacity. Large gathering plans are ultimately approved by the Division of Industrial Relations, after review by the Health District and other local jurisdictions.

The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting a sobering milestone in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Today, 1,622 new cases of COVID-19 are being reported, bringing the total in Clark County to 100,552. The Health District is also reporting seven new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total to 1,647.

LAS VEGAS – As COVID-19 case counts and positivity rates increase in Clark County, so is the demand for testing. The Southern Nevada Health District is reminding residents and employers that a negative test result is not required to be released from isolation or quarantine, nor is it valid to terminate isolation/quarantine before the required time (10 days for isolation/14 days for quarantine). The Health District does not provide return-to-work documentation.

The Southern Nevada Health District will institute changes to operations in compliance with the recent directives announced Sunday by Governor Steve Sisolak. These changes will be in place for three weeks and will limit capacity at Health District public health centers. Effective Wednesday, November 25, services will be available by appointment or unavailable for a three-week period, until Wednesday, December 16.

LAS VEGAS – Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released options to reduce quarantine for people exposed to COVID-19 from the current 14 day period to 10 days without testing or seven days if they have received a negative test result. Based on local circumstances and available local resources, the Southern Nevada Health District is implementing these quarantine options in Clark County effective immediately. The options for seven and 10 day quarantine include:

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District welcomes today’s announcement from the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services that the state is set to receive its first allocation of more than 146,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

The arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine brought some much needed holiday cheer to Southern Nevada. More shipments will be arriving, and the Southern Nevada Health District will provide regular updates on the progress of its vaccine distribution efforts. As the community continues to respond to the pandemic this holiday season, the Health District recommends celebrating only with people who share the same home. Those who will still plan events with people outside their household are strongly encouraged to take steps to lower the risk of infection at these gatherings.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 645 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Clark County to 165,318. The Health District received laboratory reports from all major laboratories; however, the number of electronic laboratory reports received today is significantly less than usual.

As of December 28, 2020, there have been 13,467 COVID-19 vaccines administered in Clark County. The first vaccines were distributed on December 14, 2020. Immunization data for Clark County originates from the State of Nevada Department of Health and Human Services. Data is preliminary and subject to change.
