Body Art or Microblading Card

All artists in Clark County who provide body art services need to have either a Body Art Card or a Microblading Card issued by the Southern Nevada Health District. A person with only microblading experience, which is limited to the face, will be issued a microblading card.

To be eligible for a Body Art Card or Microblading Card, the applicant must:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Have a minimum of six months of experience or training.
  • Possess current certification from a course on bloodborne disease transmission that meets the requirements of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard.
  • Possess valid identification that adheres to our ID policy.

If applying for the card with experience obtained outside Clark County, the applicant must also:

  • Print and complete Form O — Body Art/Microblading Artist Application. Bring the application in printed, not electronic, format.
  • Compile proof of experience as described on the Body Art/Microblading Artist Application and email to bodyart@snhd.org for approval.
  • Schedule an appointment to take a 30-question, multiple-choice sanitation examination.
  • Obtain a score of at least 80 percent on the exam. Results of the exam will be available immediately. Applicants who do not pass can retake the exam. All body art activities must stop until the exam is passed. Prepare for the exam by reviewing the training books and the Regulations Governing the Sanitation and Safety of Body Art Establishments:

Renewal Body Art Card Instructions

Body Art Cards are valid for two years and may be renewed within 60 days before the expiration date.

  • An appointment is necessary and can be made through the online scheduling system.
  • Proof of valid infectious disease training completed within the previous year must be provided.
  • Late fees will be applied to renew expired cards. Operators whose cards have been expired for more than 12 months will be required to retake the exam and pay associated fees.

Test and Card Fees

Cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, money order, cashier’s checks and business checks are accepted at all locations. See our Valid Identification Policy for identification that is accepted for payment. The name on the ID must match the name on the payment method presented.
