Commercial Holding Tank Permit Application Requirements

A Holding Tank Permit is required for temporary business structures, such as a sales or construction trailer. The permit is valid for one year. At the end of one year the holding tank must be removed or a new holding tank permit acquired.

See EH Fee Schedule for the current permit fee. Credit, debit, Visa, MasterCard, money order, cashier’s checks, and business checks are accepted. Cash is not accepted.

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

  1. Legal description, Tax Assessor’s parcel number, and recorded deed.
  2. Map of site location with nearest signed street intersection.
  3. Plot plan showing, to scale, the proposed location of holding tank, water line(s), parking, etc.
  4. Floor plan showing all plumbing fixtures.
  5. Size of holding tank (50 gallons minimum per fixture unit). See Table 3 below for fixture unit(s) per plumbing fixture.
  6. Letter from applicant requesting permit and including:
    1. Location of property
    2. Reason for the request
    3. Time frame anticipated (12 months maximum)
  7. A letter from the appropriate municipal sewer agency within the jurisdiction of the property or from the Public Works Department setting forth whether the property fits the criteria to connect to the public system.
  8. Copy of a contract with a Southern Nevada Health District permitted septic tank pumping company.
  9. Copy of a water meter receipt or a water service application acknowledgment from the water utility. If water will be supplied by well, provide copy of Well Driller’s Log with Nevada Water Resource’s permit number. Water meter or well water system connection must be in place at time of holding tank inspection.
  10. Call (702) 759-0660 to request an inspection. Inspector must have access inside modular/trailer to check for running water. If final approval cannot be given at the time of inspection, a reinspection fee must be paid before another inspection will be scheduled. See www.snhd.info/ehfees for the current reinspection fee.

† The number of units may be reduced for low water consumption fixtures. Reductions will be determined by the health authority on a case-by-case basis, depending on the type of fixture to be used and the nature of use.
