Southern Nevada Health District, community partners offer
health screenings, flu shots, Oct. 27

Las Vegas – Rite Aid and Bayer HealthCare, in association with the Southern Nevada Health District and several community partners are sponsoring a free diabetes and health screening event between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Rite Aid pharmacy located at 3852 W. Sahara Ave. at the corner of Valley View Blvd. For more information, contact the health district’s Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at 759-1270.
The Rite Aid pharmacy will offer flu shots for $30. Free blood sugar screenings for diabetes will be available in addition to blood pressure checks, bone density measurements, foot exams, vision checks and skin cancer screenings. For best results, it is recommended that individuals fast for eight hours prior to the blood sugar test; however, individuals can take their medications and they can drink water. Information about the disease and community resources will be available.
Community partners include Rite Aid, Bayer HealthCare, The Coca-Cola Company, Low Vision Services, Nevada Health Centers, Inc., MedicWest Ambulance, A Foot Care Centre, Health Projects USA, the Lions Club, Salud en Acción, State Health Insurance Assistance Programs, Healthy Hearts Project, American Diabetes Association and the Medical Reserve Corps.
