Southern Nevada Health District revokes permits
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 31, 2017
Las Vegas — The Southern Nevada Health District has been working with the sports nutrition store, Nutrition Rush, to ensure it is operating appropriately and following the guidelines that fall within the Health District’s regulatory authority.
On Tuesday, March 21, 2017, Nutrition Rush was subject to a Revocation of Food Establishment Permits hearing. The hearing officer ruled in favor of the Health District and granted revocation of health permits PR0104553 and PR0104820 for Nutrition Rush, located at 4510 E Charleston. As of March 28, 2017, no other food products are stored at this location.
This revocation was the result of ongoing non-compliance with the Health District’s 2010 food regulations. On Dec. 12, 2016 several brands of products were placed on hold and the Nutrition Rush ownership was unable to provide valid invoices, which would be used to confirm they were obtained from an approved source, for approximately 70 of 90 different products. On Feb. 7, 2017 the items that remained on hold due to unknown source were voluntarily discarded. On Feb. 9, 2017 two more brands of products (Rogue Nutrition and ProPowderz) were found to be from an unapproved source and placed on hold. The Health District informed the facility if it was found serving/selling food from an unapproved source, its permit(s) would be suspended pending revocation. On March 7, 2017, Health District staff conducted a complaint inspection at the 4510 E. Charleston location where they found product that was on hold being used at the smoothie bar. As a result, the inspectors suspended the health permits.
Since this time, Nutrition Rush has voluntarily disposed of all hold products at all locations. The Southern Nevada Health District continues to work with Nutrition Rush and inspect its facilities. Complaints and issues related to food facilities can be reported on the Health District website at: www.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/forms/food-complaints.php.
