2024 County Health Rankings released
Clark County ranks 4th healthiest out of 16 counties assessed in Nevada

LAS VEGAS — New data released by the 2024 County Health Rankings & Roadmaps show Clark County ranks 4th among Nevada counties assessed for health outcomes. The rankings are released each year using data from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI). The 2024 Health Rankings and Roadmaps report is available at www.countyhealthrankings.org.
The County Rankings provide a snapshot of local health data. The Rankings allow each state to see how its counties compare on a range of health outcomes such as premature death and life expectancy, and health factors such as adult smoking, adult obesity, access to primary care physicians, high school completion rates and more. This year’s data release continues to explore civic health. The County Health Rankings specifically looked at two elements of civic health:
- Civic infrastructure—provides community members with spaces to meet, make their voices heard, engage in cultural activities and assure belonging.
- Civic participation—includes the way people engage in community life to improve conditions whether through voting, advocacy, volunteering or participating in unions.
According to the data, counties that make it easier for residents to participate in civic activities, and also provide information sources such as broadband or public libraries, are often healthier. According to the County Health Rankings Report released today, these counties are often located in the Northeast and Western regions of the country. Areas of strength for Clark County included “Access to Exercise Opportunities.” It was noted that in Clark County 95% of people lived close to a park or recreation facility. This is a reflection of the coordinated efforts of community and government partners and Health District programs that have worked hard over the years on enhanced community design efforts, and the promotion of recreational activities and resources. In “Areas to Explore” 16% of Clark County adults were current cigarette smokers compared to 15% of adults in Nevada and the United States. The agency is committed to working with the community to use data and information from sources such as the County Rankings to enhance and improve programs, services and policies that are vital to building a healthy community.
