2025 County Health Rankings released
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 19, 2025
LAS VEGAS — The 2025 County Health Rankings & Roadmaps report, released today, shows Clark County is performing slightly better than the average Nevada county in population health and well-being, which includes length and quality of life. It also ranks slightly better than the average county in the nation. However, Clark County ranks slightly worse than the average Nevada county in community conditions, which include social and economic factors, the physical environment and health infrastructure.
The rankings, published by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, provide a snapshot of local health data. They allow states to compare counties on health outcomes such as premature death and life expectancy, as well as health factors including adult smoking, obesity, access to primary care physicians and high school completion rates. The full 2025 report is available at www.countyhealthrankings.org/.
Strengths and Areas for Improvement
Clark County’s strengths include access to exercise opportunities. Data shows 96% of county residents live near a park or recreation facility, compared to 91% statewide and 84% nationally. This reflects years of collaboration among community and government partners, as well as Health District efforts to enhance community design and promote recreational activities.
An area for improvement is the county’s flu vaccination rate. Among Clark County Medicare enrollees, 36% received an annual flu vaccine, compared to 48% nationally. The Health District promotes flu vaccination each year as the best protection against the virus and offers the vaccine at its immunization clinics.
New Model for Health Rankings
This year’s report introduces a new model to better understand how factors such as power, societal rules, and community conditions influence how long and how well people live. The new model looks at how people and groups who hold power form society’s rules and determine whether they are applied in an equitable manner. It also examines how society’s written and unwritten rules, such as policies, laws and traditions, influence whether people act together to benefit everyone’s health and well-being. More information on this model is available on the County Health Rankings website.
