FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
September 27, 2021
LAS VEGAS – More than 70 percent of people 12 years of age and older in Clark County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccines. This milestone means more Southern Nevadans have taken steps to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.
This news comes as the COVID-19 positivity rate is declining in Clark County. To sustain and expand on this progress people need to continue to take steps to protect themselves. This means people who received one dose of Moderna or Pfizer do need a second dose to be fully protected. Appointments and clinic location information are available on the Southern Nevada Health District’s website at www.snhd.info/covid-vaccine.
“This achievement is a demonstration of how committed our community members are to taking care of themselves and each other,” said Dr. Fermin Leguen, District Health Officer for the Southern Nevada Health District. “It is also a reflection of the hard work of our staff and response partners. Through our combined and sustained efforts, we can continue to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and get back to enjoying our pre-pandemic lives.”
In addition to getting vaccinated, people can protect themselves and others by wearing masks appropriately in public indoor places in accordance with current mandates, staying home when they are sick, washing hands frequently with soap and running water, covering their noses and mouths when coughing and sneezing and getting a flu vaccine. People who have symptoms or have been exposed to someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 should get tested regardless of their vaccination status. Testing information is available on the Health District’s website at www.snhd.info/covid-testing.
