November 19, 2020
LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting a sobering milestone in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Today, 1,622 new cases of COVID-19 are being reported, bringing the total in Clark County to 100,552. The Health District is also reporting seven new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total to 1,647.
“As we report these numbers, I want to remind everyone they represent someone’s family member or friend who has been impacted by the virus, and I would ask them to keep this in mind as they plan their holiday celebrations,” said Dr. Fermin Leguen, Acting Chief Health Officer for the Southern Nevada Health District.
“The best gift you can give your family and friends this season is ensuring they remain safe and healthy and are not put at risk of getting or spreading COVID-19,” said Dr. Leguen.
The Health District continues to stress the importance of celebrating Thanksgiving only with people who share the same home. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is providing ideas for people to share time virtually and alternative activities that can be found at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/holidays/thanksgiving.html.
