Cashman Center to Offer COVID-19 Vaccinations By-Appointment Only Monday-Saturday Next Week

Clark County and Southern Nevada Health District officials announced that the Cashman Center COVID-19 vaccination site will be open to offer appointment-only vaccinations Monday, Jan. 25, through Saturday, Jan. 30, to people age 70 and older, and other individuals currently eligible to receive the vaccine in the health care workforce, public safety and security, and frontline community support groups. The site was closed this weekend to ensure the limited doses of vaccine being received were adequate to meet the needs of the community clinics and scheduled appointments. Appointments at this site, located in Exhibit Hall B, just south of the COVID-19 testing area in Hall A at 850 N. Las Vegas Blvd., and others can be accessed on the vaccine distribution page of the Health District’s website at www.SNHD.info/covid.  No vaccination appointments are available at Cashman Center through the weekend. In addition to the Cashman Center site reopening next week, the Health District will open a “pop-up” vaccination clinic at Mack Middle School, 4250 E. Karen Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89121 on Tuesday, Jan. 26 through Thursday, Jan. 28. Appointments for this site will also be available on the Health District’s website.

COVID-19 vaccine clinics operated by Clark County and the Health District offer the vaccine on an appointment only basis to ensure everyone who comes to a clinic receives the vaccine.

“We are off to great start making COVID-19 vaccinations available in our community based on the supplies we receive,” said Clark County Commission Chairman Marilyn Kirkpatrick. “We are working to refine our delivery processes in the community to make vaccine as widely available as possible. Our main limitation is supply. Members of the public being offered vaccine at this time can do their part to help us out by showing up for appointments they book, and only booking appointments at one site, including local pharmacies offering vaccines or any of our public sites. We need the public’s help to ensure we maximize the supply of vaccine we receive.”

Clark County, the Southern Nevada Health District, local cities, the Nevada National Guard, UNLV and other community partners are rapidly expanding efforts to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to prioritized populations of the public based on available vaccine supplies and U.S. Center for Disease Control recommendations and updated state guidelines. Locations of vaccination clinics are listed on the Southern Nevada Health District’s website along with appointment scheduling information. People who are in priority groups to receive vaccinations are encouraged to check the website often for updates and appointments that may become available at various sites. Some sites only offer appointments to people in specific priority groups. A limited number of appointments are available at each site, but more dates and times are being added to calendars.

Officials stress the need for people in priority groups to book vaccine appointments online through the Health District’s website and to arrive at their scheduled times to ensure efficient operations at the vaccination sites and to maximize delivery of available vaccine supplies. People using walkers, wheelchairs and other assistance device are encouraged to bring these items with them so they will be comfortable during their appointments. Officials also urge the public to be patient because a limited supply of vaccine arrives each week.

“As everyone is aware, our community receives a limited amount of vaccine each week. The Southern Nevada Health District works with all of our partners who are holding vaccination clinics and administering vaccine to ensure that we are only scheduling appointments as our vaccine allotments allow. Our goal is to make sure that everyone who is eligible to receive the vaccine and has an appointment receives it,” said Dr. Fermin Leguen, Acting Chief Health Officer of the Southern Nevada Health District. “Our current planning and partnerships are allowing us to do so. We are also prepared to expand our operations as we receive larger shipments of vaccine. However, we will continue to manage our clinics and the appointments we make available in coordination with our available supplies, and we are asking our community partners to do the same.”

As of Jan. 18, there have been 60,632 COVID-19 vaccines administered in Clark County. The first vaccines were distributed on Dec. 14, 2020. To date, the Health District has received 83,200 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for distribution in Clark County.

Updated information about COVID-19 vaccines and other resources are available on the Health District’s COVID website and at NVHealthResponse.nv.gov, which also includes the state’s recently updated COVID-19 Vaccination Playbook. Health officials encourage people to keep doing the recommended actions that help reduce the spread of COVID-19:

• Wear face coverings in public and among people who don’t live in the same household.
• Stay home if you are sick or have had contact with someone who is sick.
• Get a flu shot to help reduce potential impacts on the local health care system as the community continues to deal with increased COVID-19 caseloads.
• Maintain at least 6 feet social distancing per person from non-household members.
• Limit private gatherings to fewer than 10 people from no more than two households.
