FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
April 1, 2020
We have recently learned that one of our own employees has tested positive for COVID-19. This is the first confirmed case of the virus at the Southern Nevada Health District.
The staff member developed symptoms over the weekend and has not been at work since. The employee is currently self-isolating, and the Health District is notifying close contacts of their potential exposure. The employee previously had some limited interaction with patients in a clinical setting, and these patients will be notified of their potential exposure and provided with the appropriate information.
As essential public health workers our staff members are on the front lines of this response. The health of our staff and patients is of utmost importance to us. Precautions for both staff and our clients have been put in place in response to the COVID-19 outbreak as we continue to provide vital services to the public.
The Health District is committed to keeping its patients, staff, and the community as whole informed of new and updated information during this rapidly evolving situation.
