FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
August 8, 2022

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Community Health Center is celebrating National Health Center Week August 7-13, by raising awareness of the services available to the community, showing appreciation to its patients with giveaways and celebrating its dedicated employees.

The Southern Nevada Community Health Center is located inside the Southern Nevada Health District’s main public health center at 280 S. Decatur Blvd. and provides a range of low cost, high quality health care services.

National Health Center Week recognizes how community health centers and public health touch many aspects of community life including housing, health care services for people experiencing homelessness, and migrant worker health, among others. National Health Center Week acknowledges these contributions and also celebrates patients, stakeholders and staff members.

“Community health centers ensure that access to health care services is available to everyone. The Southern Nevada Community Health Center provides health care in a culturally respectful environment and it is part of our mission to make sure that our patients’ voices are heard and their needs are met,” said Dr. Fermin Leguen, District Health Officer for the Southern Nevada Health District. “

In 2021, the Southern Nevada Community Health Center provided care to over 7,000 people, including 1,000 children. It is estimated that approximately 40,000 people live within two miles of the Health District’s 280 S. Decatur Blvd. public health center.

“We want to continue to make a positive impact on the lives of our clients. We have staff members who are dedicated to making sure access to care is easy and affordable, that there are resources to connect people to services and more,” said Leguen.

The Southern Nevada Community Health Center provides family planning, primary care, HIV/AIDS care and behavioral/mental health care services. In 2021, approximately 50 percent of the clients who received care are from groups who face barriers to heath care.
