COVID-19 after Vaccination
As of August 26, the Southern Nevada Health District has received reports of 7,084 fully vaccinated individuals testing positive for COVID-19. This represents 0.66 percent amongst the fully vaccinated or 66 cases out of every 10,000 fully vaccinated people. The Health District is also reporting a total of 105 deaths have occurred in fully vaccinated Clark County residents. This represents 0.0097% amongst the fully vaccinated or 1 death out of every 10,000 fully vaccinated people. Additional information is available at www.snhd.info/covid-breakthrough.
The Health District is encouraging everyone to get vaccinated and emphasizing:
- The COVID-19 vaccines continue to be highly effective at protecting people against severe illness and death, including disease caused by Delta and other variants circulating in Clark County.
- Getting vaccinated is the best way to slow the spread of COVID-19 and prevent more variants from developing.
- No vaccine is 100 percent effective, and breakthrough infections among vaccinated people are expected.
- Because vaccines are not 100 percent effective, as the number of people who are fully vaccinated goes up, the number of breakthrough cases will also increase.
