COVID-19 Dashboard Updates

The Southern Nevada Health District’s COVID-19 Dashboard has been updated to include COVID-19 reinfection data from June 2020. For surveillance purposes, the Health District reports COVID-19 reinfections as a positive COVID-19 polymerase chain (PCR) test result collected at least 90 days after an initial positive PCR test. As of June 13, the Health District has identified 24,914 COVID-19 reinfections. As compared to first-time infections, reinfections remain rare; however, the number of reinfections increased during the Omicron wave between December 2021 and January 2022.

The Health District’s COVID-19 dashboard is updated each week and reports, including variants of concern and breakthrough cases, are posted each Wednesday and are available at www.snhd.info/covid-data.

COVID-19 Community Level

COVID-19 case counts have increased as people participate in more summer activities and travel, and last week the Southern Nevada Health District announced Clark County had reached a high community level for COVID-19. The increasing disease trends prompted the Health District to issue a strong recommendation to the community members to continue using proven mitigation measures to slow the spread of disease. These protective steps include wearing well-fitting masks when in public indoor places and staying up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines, and getting tested if symptomatic or having contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. People who are sick should stay home and isolated from others in their household. Those who are at higher risk for severe illness may need to take additional precautions. This can include having a plan for rapid testing if needed and talking to your health care provider about options for treatments with oral antivirals and monoclonal antibodies.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention measures COVID-19 community levels using a combination of three metrics. These include new COVID-19 hospital admissions per 100,000 population in the past seven days, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and the total new COVID-19 patients per 100,000 population in the past 7 days. The Health District’s weekly aggregate and trends reports are available at www.snhd.info/covid-data.
