Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 237,737 cases of COVID-19 in Clark County, an increase of 700 since yesterday. After review, 471 of the newly reported cases are attributed to delayed electronic laboratory reports dated prior to February 3, 2021. The Health District is reporting 4,178 deaths, an increase of 9 since yesterday.

Beginning Tuesday, April 13, extended-hour COVID-19 vaccine appointments will be available at the Las Vegas Convention Center site. The Convention Center site has additional capacity and will allow for more extended-hour appointments to be offered. Five hundred appointments will be available between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the site, Tuesday through Friday. This week, 300 extended-hour appointments were offered at the Southern Nevada Health District’s Decatur location, Wednesday through Friday.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and its state partners to investigate reports of acute non-viral hepatitis in Clark County.

LAS VEGAS – In Clark County, occupational groups currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine include health care, public safety and security, frontline community support, frontline supply chain and logistics, and food service and hospitality workers. In addition to individuals who are currently employed, people in these groups who were furloughed or laid off and are re-entering the workforce or seeking employment are eligible to be vaccinated. People should bring documentation of their current or previous employment.

LAS VEGAS – Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 230,758 cases of COVID-19 today, and increase of 802 since yesterday. Today’s increased case total is a result of receiving delayed electronic laboratory reports. Approximately 460 new cases were identified from these records.

COVID-19 vaccine eligibility in Southern Nevada now includes all transportation workers including air transportation staff, bus and public transit staff, Lyft, taxi, and Uber drivers, as well as grocery store workers, and all retail workers as part of the expansion to the frontline community support and frontline supply chain and logistics groups. The Southern Nevada Health District is urging people that are eligible, which includes everyone in these groups that is 18 years of age and older (Moderna vaccine) or 16 years of age and older (Pfizer vaccine), to register for an appointment to get the vaccine.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District received 15,100 doses of Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine today. This is the first allotment of the one-dose vaccine received by the agency. It will be distributed to hospitals, community partner clinics, and used in Health District clinic sites as available.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District is encouraging all people who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated. The COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and free. Currently, the Cashman Center and Las Vegas Convention Center clinics have same day appointments available for both first and second doses of the vaccine. LAS VEGAS – Access to first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine has been expanded in Southern Nevada. The Southern Nevada Health District announced today that the Las Vegas Convention Center site is now offering first doses of the vaccine to people eligible to receive it. The site was previously offering second doses only. Additional first dose appointments have also been opened at Cashman Center through Saturday.

LAS VEGAS – Based on clinic capacity, the Southern Nevada Health District is making additional first dose appointments available at Cashman Center today, Thursday, February 25 and tomorrow, Friday, February 26, for those currently eligible to receive the vaccine. Appointments can be scheduled on the Health District website at https://covid.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/vaccine/distribution/. Eligible groups include people 65 years of age and older, health care workers, and those in the public safety and security and frontline community support groups.

As of February 23, 2021, there have been 370,269 COVID-19 vaccines administered in Clark County. (266,684 first doses and 103,585 second doses.) The vaccine is being distributed in phases, according to the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Health District’s distribution plan mirrors the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health’s COVID-19 Vaccination Playbook and is based on risk and level of exposure.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District received its delayed shipment of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine this morning. Based on its current inventory of both first and second doses of the vaccine, the Health District will be opening up limited first dose appointments at Cashman Center for those who are currently eligible to receive the vaccine. The Cashman Center site will be open this week on Wednesday, February 24 through Saturday, February 27. Those currently eligible to receive the vaccine include people 65 years of age and older, health care workers, and those in public safety and security and frontline community support groups.

Cashman Center and Desert Pines High School have reached clinic capacity for first dose Pfizer vaccine for walk-in patients today, Friday, February 19 and no additional doses are available for people without appointments.

LAS VEGAS - People 65 years of age and older are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Clark County, and the Southern Nevada Health District has added walk-in opportunities at Cashman Center and Desert Pines High School COVID-19 vaccine clinics for people in this group to get their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Walk-ins are available on a first-come, first served basis, as well as clinic capacity.

Severe weather in other parts of the country has caused delays in shipments of the Southern Nevada Health District’s allocation of Moderna vaccine. As a result, the Health District will be rescheduling second dose appointments for those who were scheduled to receive their second dose of the Moderna vaccine by one week. People who were scheduled to receive their second dose of Moderna on Thursday, February 18, Friday, February, 19, and Saturday, February 20, are being contacted to reschedule their appointments.

Desert Pines High School Clinic offering first dose Pfizer vaccinations by appointment only, second dose vaccinations available to walk-ins as clinic capacity allows/Cashman Center offering additional appointments for walk-ins on Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20 as clinic capacity allows.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District has expanded its COVID-19 helpline capacity. The helpline is now available seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a new phone line provides more access for people seeking assistance with appointments and information. In addition to (702) 759-1900, people can now call (702) 455-0696 for support to make or cancel appointments, or with questions.

The Southern Nevada Health District is continuing to serve walk-in patients who are eligible to receive their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Las Vegas Convention Center Second Dose Clinic. Walk-in appointments are available 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. or based on clinic capacity. Those eligible to receive their second dose at this site include patients who received their first dose of Moderna vaccine at a Health District or partner clinic no sooner than 28 days prior as well as those who received their first dose of Pfizer at a Health District or partner clinic no sooner than 21 days prior. As of February 2, 2021, there have been 174,665 COVID-19 vaccines administered in Clark County. To date, the Health District has received 116,865 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for distribution in Clark County. Five additional cases of the new B.1.1.7 coronavirus strain have been detected in Clark County. These five cases are all close contacts of the first case that was announced on January 25, 2020. These specimens were collected by Southern Nevada Public Health Laboratory (SNPHL) and sent to the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory for sequencing and confirmation.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District’s second dose COVID-19 vaccination clinic opened today at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The site is operated in partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Clark County, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, FEMA, and other local response partners.

Clark County and Southern Nevada Health District officials announced that next week’s schedule of operations at the Cashman Center COVID-19 vaccination site in downtown Las Vegas will be Wednesday, Feb. 3 through Sunday, Feb. 7. The site, located in Exhibit Hall B of Cashman Center, 850 N. Las Vegas Blvd., is operating 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Saturday this week. Appointment-only, first-dose COVID-19 vaccinations are being offered based on available supplies to people age 70 and older, and other individuals currently eligible to receive the vaccine in the health care workforce, public safety and security, and frontline community support groups. Appointments can be booked online via the vaccine distribution page of the Health District’s website at www.SNHD.info/covid.  COVID-19 vaccine clinics operated by Clark County and the Health District offer the vaccine on an appointment-only basis to ensure everyone who comes to a clinic receives the vaccine.

LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Convention Center will be the site of the Southern Nevada Health District’s COVID-19 second dose clinic site, the agency and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) announced today. The appointment-only clinic will open on Tuesday, February 2, for people who received their first dose at a Health District clinic and are eligible to receive their second dose.

LAS VEGAS – Starting this week, the Southern Nevada Health District will begin contacting people who are eligible to receive their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and were vaccinated at a Health District clinic to begin scheduling appointments. Second dose allocations are received based on the amount of first doses administered, and appointments will only be available for residents who received their vaccinations from a Health District clinic.

The first known case of the new B.1.1.7 coronavirus strain in Nevada has been detected in a sample that was initially tested in the Southern Nevada Public Health Laboratory (SNPHL). The specimen was collected during routine community collection activities and tested by the SNPHL to determine if it was positive for the virus that causes COVID-19. During testing, it was discovered the specimen was showing characteristics of the variant. It was then sent the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory for sequencing and confirmation.

LAS VEGAS - The Southern Nevada Health District today launched its Linkage to Action (L2A) mobile outreach unit. L2A is funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Overdose Data to Action* program to prevent drug overdoses through education, surveillance, and assistance with accessing services to prevent overdoses. Clark County, the Southern Nevada Health District, local cities, the Nevada National Guard, UNLV and other community partners are rapidly expanding efforts to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to prioritized populations of the public based on available vaccine supplies and U.S. Center for Disease Control recommendations and updated state guidelines. Health care and public safety workers continue to be prioritized at local vaccination sites. Clinic appointments are now available for people age 70 and older. Currently, a limited number of appointments are available on the Health District’s website. More dates and times are being added to the calendar to book a limited number of appointment time slots.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting a sobering milestone in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Today, 1,337 new cases of COVID-19 are being reported, bringing the total in Clark County to 200,597. The Health District is also reporting 14 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total to 2,866.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 194,220 cases of COVID-19 in Clark County, an increase of 737 since yesterday. Today’s increased case total is a result of delayed laboratory reporting. The Health District is also reporting an additional 42 deaths, bringing the total to 2,716. As January 5, 2021, there have been 21,081 COVID-19 vaccines administered in Clark County. The first vaccines were distributed on December 14, 2020. As of December 28, 2020, there have been 13,467 COVID-19 vaccines administered in Clark County. The first vaccines were distributed on December 14, 2020. Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 645 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Clark County to 165,318. The Health District received laboratory reports from all major laboratories; however, the number of electronic laboratory reports received today is significantly less than usual.

The arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine brought some much needed holiday cheer to Southern Nevada. More shipments will be arriving, and the Southern Nevada Health District will provide regular updates on the progress of its vaccine distribution efforts. As the community continues to respond to the pandemic this holiday season, the Health District recommends celebrating only with people who share the same home. Those who will still plan events with people outside their household are strongly encouraged to take steps to lower the risk of infection at these gatherings.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District welcomes today’s announcement from the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services that the state is set to receive its first allocation of more than 146,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

LAS VEGAS – Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released options to reduce quarantine for people exposed to COVID-19 from the current 14 day period to 10 days without testing or seven days if they have received a negative test result. Based on local circumstances and available local resources, the Southern Nevada Health District is implementing these quarantine options in Clark County effective immediately. The options for seven and 10 day quarantine include:

The Southern Nevada Health District will institute changes to operations in compliance with the recent directives announced Sunday by Governor Steve Sisolak. These changes will be in place for three weeks and will limit capacity at Health District public health centers. Effective Wednesday, November 25, services will be available by appointment or unavailable for a three-week period, until Wednesday, December 16.

LAS VEGAS – As COVID-19 case counts and positivity rates increase in Clark County, so is the demand for testing. The Southern Nevada Health District is reminding residents and employers that a negative test result is not required to be released from isolation or quarantine, nor is it valid to terminate isolation/quarantine before the required time (10 days for isolation/14 days for quarantine). The Health District does not provide return-to-work documentation.

The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting a sobering milestone in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Today, 1,622 new cases of COVID-19 are being reported, bringing the total in Clark County to 100,552. The Health District is also reporting seven new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total to 1,647.

LAS VEGAS – The Health District has developed a set of parameters for making its recommendations for the approval of large events in Clark County that is available on its website. Today, public health indicators are trending toward surveillance capacity because the 7-day average number of new cases is 569. The Health District recommends that events with less than 1,000 attendees can move forward for possible approval by the appropriate state agency with the caveat that these events could be postponed or canceled if conditions deteriorate. Under this condition, the Health District does not recommend approval for events of more than 1,000 attendees until three consecutive days of all parameters are found to be in green, not trending toward surveillance capacity or yellow, trending toward surveillance capacity. Large gathering plans are ultimately approved by the Division of Industrial Relations, after review by the Health District and other local jurisdictions.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 1,032 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Clark County to 86,673. The Health District is also reporting a total of 1,564 COVID-19 deaths, an increase of 17. The number of deaths reported today includes 17 deaths that were previously reported to the state but had not yet been submitted to the Health District, and therefore not included in our local COVID-19 reports. These deaths occurred between May 30, 2020, and September 19, 2020. Today’s total also reflects a decrease of five previously reported deaths that were found not to be residents of Clark County. These adjustments are being made in keeping with the recently reviewed COVID-19 surveillance death definition finalized by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services on October 19, 2020, and in partnership with the state to review and reconcile reports

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 890 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total number of cases in Clark County to 81,684 . The Health District is also reporting seven new COVID-19 deaths. The increase in new case reports is not unexpected as we are seeing continued community transmission and people continue to get tested However, the increase in the positivity rate serves as a stark reminder to the public of the importance of following public health recommendations to protect themselves and others to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 609 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total of cases in Clark County to 77,426. The Health District is also reporting six new COVID-19 deaths; however, the total number of deaths reported today remains at 1,488. Based on the new COVID-19 surveillance death definition finalized by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and current as of October 19, 2020, the Health District reviewed its previously reported data and the total number of deaths reported in Clark County was decreased by six.

The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 807 new cases of COVID-19 today as the positivity rate continues to slowly increase in Clark County. The increase in new case reports is not unexpected as more people are getting tested, and more lab reports are received by the Health District. However, the increase in the positivity rate serves as a stark reminder to the public of the importance of following public health recommendations to protect themselves and others to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 68,162 cases of COVID-19 in Clark County, an increase of 663 since yesterday. Today’s increased case total is a result of delayed reporting from laboratories. The Health District provides comprehensive COVID-19 data on its website, including a Trends Report with a graph and table that distributes cases by symptom onset.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District and the City of Henderson are teaming up to host an appointment-based, no-cost, drive-up flu vaccine clinic at the Fiesta Henderson Hotel and Casino parking garage. Registration is available at www.bit.ly/oct6flu. Drive-up and walk-up clients without appointments will be accommodated if vaccine supplies allow. The drive-up clinic will offer 400 doses of vaccine for adults.

Additional community-based COVID-19 testing sites are scheduled to open in the city of Las Vegas beginning Thursday Sept. 24. The hours for these new locations will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the first site at Clark High School, 4291 Pennwood Ave., open Sept. 24-25. The testing will be at the school’s auxiliary gymnasium off Sirius Avenue. In addition, a site at Western High School, 4601 W. Bonanza Road, is scheduled to be open Oct. 8-9, and a site at Cimarron-Memorial High School, 2301 N. Tenaya Way, is scheduled for Oct. 15-16

Clark County and the Southern Nevada Health District have been working closely with their partners at the State of Nevada and the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services to respond to COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. Together, we have secured additional disease investigation and contact tracing resources that have allowed for the collection of expanded data. As more and better data is collected, we are committed to working with our partners to share this information with our partners and the public.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District reported 63,301 cases of COVID-19 in Clark County, an increase of 224 cases since yesterday. The Health District is adding a series of new weekly city reports that will be posted each Thursday to its website. The reports will provide more specific data for the jurisdictions of Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas, Mesquite, and North Las Vegas. Reports for smaller jurisdictions are not provided based on lower cases counts or population size.

The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting a total of eight cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) in Clark County. All eight cases are reported in children under the age of 14, all of whom tested positive for COVID-19. All eight were hospitalized and have been discharged.

Today, as the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting more than 1006 people in our community have lost their lives due to COVID-19, we want to express our deepest sympathies to their families and friends.

Today, the Southern Nevada Health District is reporting 51,457 cases of COVID-19 in Clark County, an increase of 888 since yesterday. It is important to note that the case counts posted each day are a reflection of the volume of tests conducted and electronic laboratory results received by the Health District from reporting facilities. The 7-day moving average of people with positive COVID-19 viral test results continues to decline and is at 13 percent.

Back-to-School Immunizations The Southern Nevada Health District is urging parents and guardians to ensure their pre-schoolers, kindergartners, and 7th graders are appropriately immunized and ready to start school. Washington Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89107, the Southern Nevada Health District has implemented an online registration-based system for people requesting testing services. LAS VEGAS – As the community prepares for the holiday weekend, the Southern Nevada Health District reminds the public and business community to continue to take steps to slow the spread of COVID-19.

LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting two additional cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) in Clark County. Both patients tested positive for COVID-19 and required hospitalization but have been discharged and are recovering. The Health District reported the first confirmed case of MIS-C associated with COVID-19 in a child on June 12.

With a rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Clark County occurring in the Hispanic community, County leaders, health experts and partners announced a sweeping new outreach effort to boost understanding among Hispanic residents of all ages about the need to wear face coverings in public places, visit free testing sites, and find resources to help protect themselves and their families from the virus.

The Southern Nevada Health District recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public, even more importantly in environments where social distancing is not always possible. As businesses are reopening, the Health District has issued guidance and recommendations that employees should wear non-hospital grade, cloth face coverings to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Everyone working is encouraged to wear a cloth face covering to protect customers when maintaining 6 feet of separation isn’t possible.

LAS VEGAS – As Clark County’s COVID-19 case count began to climb, the Southern Nevada Health District expanded its staff of four disease investigators to more than 60 in six weeks. Today, as staff continues to work on case and contact notifications for the more than 5,400 reported cases in Clark County, the agency has implemented an automated system to expedite its efforts to notify people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Southern Nevada Health District’s Daily Aggregate Reports have been revised to include rates. Today’s report also includes a revised estimate of recovered patients. The revised number is based on more accurate estimates of current hospitalizations after discovering the reporting system was inflating completed discharge dates in some instances.

The Southern Nevada Health District’s daily COVID-19 summaries have expanded to include available basic demographic and medical history data. Additionally, the Health District is posting case count information for ZIP codes with reported cases and in keeping with suppression guidelines.
