Farmers Market Event Coordinator Permit Discount
The Southern Nevada Health District is working with partners to make healthy food more accessible in our community. Starting in July 2021, a $50 discount on the annual Farmers Market Event Coordinator Permit is available for markets that accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. To qualify the market must:
- Have a valid health permit
- Operate a central terminal and accept SNAP benefits for vendors that sell SNAP-eligible foods at the market
- Agree that the Health District may survey the market for compliance with these provisions
- Complete a Farmers Market Manager SNAP Discount Request Application. A separate application must be completed for each market that meets the conditions stated above.
Additionally, plan review fees will be waived for individuals who wish to open a Farmer’s Market in certain locations. Currently, priority zip codes are:
89030, 89046, 89101, 89102, 89104, 89106, 89107, 89108, 89109, 89110, 89115, 89119, 89121, 89156, 89169
*Consideration for waving plan review fees may also be given to markets proposing to open in census tracts in which 20% or more of the population lives below the federal poverty level (as opposed to the entire zip code).
If you have an existing permit and would like to apply for the discount, complete the application form below. If you have any questions regarding your permit or this application, please call (702) 759-0544. If you would like plan review fees waived for a new permit, please call (702) 759-1258.
