Disease Surveillance Programs

The Southern Nevada Health District conducts surveillance of communicable diseases in Clark County, investigates case reports and communicable disease outbreaks and implements control measures designed to curb the spread of disease.

Surveillance Programs

Electronic Syndromic Surveillance: This program is designed to identify potential communicable disease outbreaks including those that could be caused by bioterrorist agents.

First Watch: This new system uses real-time information from 9-1-1 calls to detect trends indicating the possible outbreak of disease, illness or patterns of injury either from natural causes or acts of terrorism.

More information about health district surveillance programs is available on the Statistics, Surveillance & Reports webpage.
